kudos to team efforts
While working at a relief centre, I noticed that most volunteers were below 25. For once we were not being chastised for what we were doing. One has to laude these efforts and also laude the previous generation for having brought us up with good values. I was very heartened to see that orphanages from across the country have sent in relief materials. Among these, were letters from orphan children who have poured their hearts out to the survivors of this disaster. New Year revelers from across the country stayed at home, prayed and quietly brought in the New Year. What they would have spent on that evening partying, they gave to the relief funds. My heart goes out to all the survivors.
Putting aside all our individual differences, we are working as a team and helping people rebuild their lives. All said and done, we do find it a little difficlt helping these people because as much as we sympathise, we can never understand the madnitude of their problems. How do I tell a man who has just buried his wife and 2 month old son to boil his water before he drinks it? I spoke of children going back to their schools. But their uniforms and books have been swallowed by the very sea that sustained them. They don’t know where their next morsel of food is coming from. All I can say now is that “the answer my friend, is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind”. May the New Year bring in hope, peace and prosperity to us all. God bless
